Dr. María Eloísa Villaverde Doménech studied Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of Valencia, between 2005 and 2011, with an average grade of Outstanding. During his training, he made training stays in foreign centers such as the ULB Hospital (Université Libre de Bruxelles), in Brussels, Belgium, and the Hôpital Necker des Enfants Malades (Paris, France).
After preparing for the MIR exam in 2012, taking his studies at the MIR Academy (Oviedo-Spain), he obtained the number 26 among more than 12,000 applicants, which gave him access to the training position in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe in Valencia.
Dr. Villaverde obtained in May 2017 the title of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon after 5 years of residency at Hospital La Fe, training in the Large Burns Unit, as well as in the Children’s Plastic Surgery Service and the Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery Service.
In addition, he completed training stays in other prestigious national and international centers such as Hospital Intermutual de Levante, Clínica Cavadas, Hôpital Necker des Enfants Malades (Paris, France), NYU Hospital (New York University Hospital, USA), Centro Médico Teknon (Barcelona), Hospital de Denia and Hospital Provincial de Castellón.
PhD with maximum qualification “excellent cum laude“, by the Universitat de València, with the doctoral thesis “Optimization of adipose tissue cryopreservation techniques”.
On the other hand, Dr. Villaverde continues to constantly update his knowledge by actively participating in courses and congresses in the specialty, and has received several national and international awards and prizes throughout his professional career:
- National award in the 1st Call for the Recognition of the Surgical Treatment of the Major Burn Injury with the article “The challenge of free flap transfers in burn patients: What is the best time for surgery?”. Cir.plást. iberolatinoam.-Vol. 41 – Nº 2 April – May – June 2015 / Pag. 117-126
- International Award: FILACP (Ibero-Latin American Federation of Plastic Surgery) Award for the best article on Burns, 2016.
- Accesit Residents Award sponsored by Mentor, 51st SECPRE Congress 2016 (ESTORIL), 2016.
- End of Residency Award: Best Doctoral Thesis completed during the residency, 2017.
- 3rd prize End of Residency, Hospital La Fe de Valencia, 2017.
As a result of his search for innovation and constant updating, he continues his research work with the publication of articles in the most relevant scientific journals in our specialty at national and international level, such as “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” and “Cirugía Plástica Iberolatinoamericana”. He currently works as a specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Provincial Hospital of Castellón, performing reconstructions of all types of body defects, whether congenital, post-traumatic or tumor. The strengths of his work, and also demanding, are in breast reconstruction after oncological surgery, and the application of reconstruction techniques using microsurgery. She is a member of the Breast Pathology Expert Committee of the Breast Unit of the Castellón Health Department.
Lastly, he has his own Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery – Dra. Mª Eloísa Villaverde Doménechwhere he provides services to all types of patients in private practice. The clinic is located at FINCA ROJA, Carrer de Maluquer, Number 1, door 2, 46007 Valencia.
