FRONTAL BROW LIFT

The frontal lift or also known as brow lift is the facial cosmetic surgery that helps us to correct the shape of the eyebrows, altered by the passage of time. But what is the ideal eyebrow shape? From the most medial part of the eyebrow, it has to go up to a maximum point that is in the transition zone between the medial 2/3 and the lateral 1/3; this is the tail of the eyebrow. The lateral third has to descend subtly as it becomes thinner. With aging we observe that the eyebrow falls or that the defined shape is lost and many times the eyebrow is practically straight.

At DraVillaverde we will help you define your needs and expectations with this surgery so that the results are brilliant.

How do you know if you need a facelift?

The planning of this intervention must be carried out on an individual basis according to the characteristics of each person.

  • Your eyebrows have little arching, due to aging or genetic causes.
  • Your eyebrows have drooped or have excess tissue at the eyelid level.
  • Your eyebrows are asymmetrical, one is more droopy than the other, unbalancing your look.

What techniques are used to perform a facelift?

As for surgical procedures, there are three possibilities:
– Direct supraciliary excision: removes skin above the eyebrow and restores the desired design to the eyebrow. The disadvantage is that it leaves a scar that is sometimes visible, and depending on the characteristics of the patient, it may heal better or worse. However, the scar should always be camouflaged as much as possible between the hairline of the eyebrows.

– Coronal lift: uses a coronal scalp incision (ear or ear) to access the fasciae and supporting tissues of the eyebrows, and from there anchors the tail area of the eyebrow to deep fasciae. The disadvantage is the approach, which, although hidden by the hair, involves a larger scar and greater surgical aggressiveness.

– Brow lift through small incisions in the hairline. It is performed through two camouflaged incisions at the level of the hairline, through which we work: a tunnel has to be made to access the deep tissues of the tail of the eyebrow and from there anchor them to the deep fascia. This is our favorite approach because the scar is smaller, and it is hidden.

– Endoscopic forehead lift. In this case, incisions and scars are also minimized, and the procedure is performed with the aid of an endoscope.

What is the postoperative period for a forehead lift like?

In general, a forehead lift is a procedure to be performed in the operating room, with local anesthesia and sedation; or in cases such as a coronal lift, general anesthesia is recommended. Direct supraciliary excision can be performed in the office with only local anesthetic. Generally does not require hospitalization, the patient could go home a few hours after surgery. The stitches are removed after one week.

WHAT OTHER PROCEDURES RESTORE THE SHAPE OF YOUR EYEBROWS

Among the non-surgical procedures there are techniques such as botulinum toxin infiltration which achieves this effect of defining the eyebrow and slightly raising the tail of the eyebrow.
